Privacy notice

Last updated 21 July 2026

Pilot status. Movers is running a closed pilot. This notice describes exactly what the live system does today. It has not yet been reviewed by a solicitor or a data protection officer, and it will be re-issued before any public launch.

Who we are

Movers (“we”) operates this website and the software the removal companies on it use to quote and manage moves. For enquiries about this notice or to exercise any right below, contact privacy@movers.example.

Two different controllers

This matters more than anything else here. When you ask a removal company for a quote, or book one, we copy your enquiry into that company’s own system. From that moment there are two independent controllers of your data:

  • Movers — for your account, the comparison you ran, the record of your consent, and the messages you send through this site.
  • The removal company you chose — for the lead, quote, booking and any work they carry out. They decide their own retention and use it under their own privacy notice. We cannot delete their copy on their behalf; we will pass on your request and tell you where to send it.

Who else sees it

  • The removal companies you choose. Only the ones you pick. We do not sell your details, and we do not broadcast your enquiry to companies you did not select.
  • Stripe — to take a deposit. Your card details go to Stripe directly and are never stored by us.
  • Our email provider — to send you your quote and booking emails.
  • Our hosting and database providers — who store the data on our instructions.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that never became a booking — 12 months, then deleted.
  • Bookings and their quotes — 6 years, because they are records of a contract.
  • Consent records — as long as we hold the data the consent covers, plus 12 months.
  • Security and audit logs — 12 months.
  • Your account — until you delete it.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, or to receive it in a portable format. Where we rely on your consent you can withdraw it at any time — that does not undo sharing that already happened, but it stops any further sharing.

Email privacy@movers.exampleand we will respond within one month. If you are not satisfied you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Cookies and similar technology
